Gold and silver captivated people with their beauty and luster, eventually becoming symbols of wealth and power. During the Age of Discovery, it became an indispensable element in people's economic activities. It was during this era that the Iwami Silver Mine (Oda City, Shimane Prefecture) produced vast quantities of silver.<\/strong>
\n In 2027, the Iwami Silver Mine will celebrate a major milestone: the 500th anniversary of its discovery and the 20th anniversary of its designation as a World Heritage Site.
