As part of the "Sunshine City FAMILY project," which aims to become a facility that is loved by families, Sunshine City (Ikebukuro, Tokyo) will be holding a Halloween-themed event , "Sunshine City FUN! FUN! Halloween," from Wednesday, October 1st to Friday, October 31st, centered around the specialty shopping district, ALPA.
On certain days during the period, there will be plenty of events, including "Operation Trick or Treat!", where visitors who bring their own original candy boxes will receive a gift box of sweets, as well as candy box craft workshops and a festival. There will also be a ghost picture book rally called "Find! Fun Fun's Halloween Party," where visitors can collect picture book pages as they travel around the building and complete a mini picture book.
On Halloween, Friday, October 31st, there will be a concert featuring costumed artists, allowing parents and children to enjoy music together.
There are also photo spots throughout the building that are perfect for taking commemorative photos with your children.
Sunshine City has a wide range of facilities and services for children, so please come and join us for this event, which even small children can enjoy safely.

Domestic Halloween trends and Ikebukuro's unique features <Safe and secure cosplay events / Halloween events for the whole family>
In recent years, Halloween in Japan has become established as an event for families to enjoy together. The number of people participating in Halloween events has recovered to pre-COVID levels, with an especially large increase in families with children.*1
The Ikebukuro area has been hosting Japan's largest cosplay event, the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival, since 2014. Last year, 161,000 people visited over three days, and the event has been growing in popularity every year.*²
In Ikebukuro, Toshima Ward and local businesses have worked together to create a system in which the entire town can welcome visitors , and together with visitors, they have created a "safe and secure cosplay event" in Ikebukuro, the mecca of manga and anime .
Since 2015, Sunshine City has been holding Halloween events that can be enjoyed by families together with their children. We have strived to improve our facilities and services for families, providing Halloween events that the whole family can enjoy, and a place where customers with children can spend time safely and comfortably .
This year, the Ikebukuro Halloween Cosplay Festival will also be expanding its parent-child events, and we hope that Ikebukuro will become known to more people as a city where the whole family can enjoy Halloween.

Trick or Treat Mission!
Candy Box
You can enjoy making your own original candy box at home using paper cartons such as milk cartons and backing paper available from flyers distributed in the museum or on the event website. Children who bring in their candy box will receive a gift of an assortment of sweets.
Additionally, anyone who has a receipt for purchases made at Sunshine City worth 500 yen or more (tax included) will receive a free ribbon for their candy box, which they can decorate to their liking.
Distribution period: October 18th (Sat), 19th (Sun), 25th (Sat), 26th (Sun), 31st (Fri)
Reception hours: 11:00-16:00 each day *Limited to one time per person during the period
Reception location: 1F South Entrance Plaza, Alpa Shopping Mall
Participation requirements: Children under elementary school age who bring their own original candy box made at the event or the original candy box made at the workshop on the day.

We will be holding a museum-wide initiative where visitors can collect pages from original Halloween-themed picture books and complete a book.
The picture book tells the story of Fanfan the Ghost, who comes to Sunshine City to prepare for a Halloween party, and searches for his friends who have become lost in the Halloween atmosphere. Various facilities in Sunshine City appear as subjects in the book.
Visit six spots in the museum and collect pages from the picture book to create your own mini picture book, "Search! Fun Fun's Halloween Party."

Halloween Festival
Past events (2024)
A festival for the whole family to enjoy, including events such as Senbonhiki and shooting gallery, will be held in the plaza in front of the south entrance on the first floor of the specialty shopping mall ALPA.

Time: 11:00-16:00
Location: 1F South Entrance Plaza of Alpa Specialty Store
Price: 200 yen per stall (cash only). A set ticket that allows you to enjoy three stalls is also available for 500 yen (cash only).
Halloween Concert
On Halloween day, Friday, October 31st, a Halloween concert will be held at Fountain Square. Artists dressed as ghosts, monsters, and other Halloween characters will perform fun music.
This is a participatory concert where you can not only listen to music but also dance along with the artists.
You can also take photos with the artists on the stage in Fountain Square.
