Born in Niigata prefecture. In 1973, "Unknown Visitor" was published in the autumn issue of "Deluxe Margaret" (Shueisha) and made its debut. In 1976, published "Gentle Devil" in "Hana to Yume" special edition (Hakusensha). Since then, he has been active mainly in mysterious manga in the company's magazine. In 1978, he became a gag writer with "Rashane!" And "Patalliro!", And solidified his popularity. In November 2018, Hana to Yume Comics's "Patalliro!" Reached 100 volumes (currently up to 102 volumes are on sale <following issue>).
He has drawn many other works, and has published more than 300 related books (including versions of the same work). "Patalliro!" Will be made into a TV animation in 1982, staged in 2016/18, and "Stage" Patalliro! "-Kiri no London Airport-" will be staged in January 2021 (starring Ryo Kato). Also, in 2019, the live-action movie "Patalliro the Movie!" Was released, and Blu-ray & DVD is on sale. The live-action movie "Sho de Saitama" released in the same year attracted a great deal of attention nationwide.
