Gourmet bread made by a French chef, expanding product lineup
Alsace Air, which sells original sandwiches and prepared breads, will relocate to a new store just a two-minute walk from the west exit of Ikebukuro Station and will begin operations on Friday, May 9, 2025.
"Alsace Air" is a bakery that opened in January 2024 and is produced by the French restaurant "Brasserie Laiton" (operated by Laiton LLC) in front of Ikebukuro Station.
With the theme of "recreating legendary in-flight meals," a chef from the restaurant offered savory breads and original creative breads made with plenty of homemade pate and sausages, which proved very popular.
We are pleased to announce that we have opened a new store in front of Ikebukuro Station with expanded bread-making capabilities.
The bread products to be sold will include revamped versions of the existing sandwiches and hot dogs, as well as hard breads such as baguettes and rustic bread, original bread, banh mi, quiche, and tartines made with carefully selected ingredients.
The new Alsace Air store is located inside the Brasserie Laiton store, directly opposite hotel hisoca ikebukuro.
The new store will be operated by Yasuda Co., Ltd., which also operates hotel hisoca ikebukuro, and Alsace Air customers will be able to use the hotel's outdoor terrace seating as an eat-out space.
The grand opening of the new store is scheduled for Friday, May 9th, but pre-opening hours will be held intermittently from Friday, April 25th onwards. Details of the pre-opening days, opening hours, products to be sold, etc. will be announced on the official Instagram.
"Alsace Air" is the name of a fictional airline based in the Alsace region of France in the 1960s and 1970s, operating short- and medium-haul routes to major European cities.
In an era when airlines were fiercely competing to offer the best in-flight meals, Alsace Air was committed to serving the finest sandwiches, and even now that flights have been suspended, many people still miss the taste of these sandwiches. This is the fictional background story behind the store's planning.
