~An adult's hideaway where you can savor the most delicious fish of the night and vegetables picked this morning~
Mostfun Co., Ltd., which aims to have the world's highest employee satisfaction in Japan, will open a new type of restaurant, "Robata Sakazuki," on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in a location just a 4-minute walk from the east exit of Ikebukuro Station.
This restaurant is an authentic robatayaki (charcoal grill) izakaya that serves fresh fish carefully selected by the discerning eye of Musashi-Sakai Osakana-ya, which is a descendant of Uohatsu, a long-established fish shop in Kichijoji that has been in business for about 100 years, and grilled over a charcoal fire. We offer dishes that are particular about the freshness of the ingredients, such as vegetables picked that morning and delivered from farmers in Chiba Prefecture. We will cherish the feelings of the fans of our previous restaurant, Kisaragi Touka, which sadly closed its doors, and aim to become a restaurant that is loved by the adults of Ikebukuro.
■ Inheritance and Challenge: The Baton Passed on in Ikebukuro
Approximately 100 years ago, Uohatsu, a long-established fish shop in Kichijoji, transformed into Musashisakai Osakana-ya-san in 2020 and has continued to be loved by the community. Even after Musashisakai Osakana-ya-san joined Mostfun in 2024, its discerning eye and belief in "bringing joy to the customers in front of it" are still carefully preserved and continue to evolve.
At this restaurant, the owner of "Musashi-Sakai Osakana-ya" visits Toyosu Market every morning to personally purchase the freshest fish of the day. Furthermore, the fish he has carefully selected is delivered directly to the restaurant, where the head chefs meticulously prepare each dish before serving it to customers.
Furthermore, the location where this restaurant will open is the former site of "Kisaragi Touka," a renowned restaurant beloved by many fans. We hope that our former regulars will feel reassured knowing that "that restaurant has continued in a different, wonderful form." And that new customers will find it a place where they can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and relax. Here in Ikebukuro, we will pour our history and passion into each and every dish and warmly welcome you all.
■ Enjoy seasonal fish and freshly picked vegetables cooked over a fire.
This restaurant uses charcoal to serve seasonal fish and vegetables grilled over a fire. Their signature dish, "Robata Ippon-yaki" (whole grilled fish), features a whole fresh fish, carefully selected by the fishmonger, grilled to perfection. The fish is slowly cooked using the far-infrared rays of the charcoal, resulting in a crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior.
By grilling the fish whole, the delicious flavor of the fat and the moisture of the flesh are locked in, resulting in a dish that allows you to fully appreciate the fish's natural taste. Robatayaki, where the heat is adjusted according to the ingredients, is a simple dish that truly showcases the skill of the chef.
We source our vegetables in partnership with Toretate Co., Ltd., which has a direct-from-the-farm system, from contract farmers mainly in Chiba Prefecture, ensuring that the vegetables are harvested within 24 hours of being picked that morning. By slowly roasting the vegetables, the moisture they retain is further enhanced, resulting in a dish that is both fresh and fragrant.
■ Experience the "true passion" of a fishmonger with Sakazuki's signature dishes
Assorted sashimi: 1,980 yen (tax included)
Utilizing the discerning eye passed down from Uohatsu, a long-established fish shop founded about 100 years ago, we offer a selection of the freshest fish of the day in a platter.
Based on the concept of "A fishmonger's dedication is conveyed through thickness," we have focused on providing satisfaction with each slice, resulting in a boldly thick cut. This is a signature dish of our restaurant, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural flavor and texture of the fish.
Tender beef tendon and daikon radish stew: 880 yen (tax included)
"Meltingly Tender Beef Tendon and Daikon Radish" is a dish simmered slowly in chicken broth. The daikon radish, which has absorbed plenty of the broth, is so tender that you can cut it with chopsticks, and it has a comforting, nostalgic taste. The beef tendons, which are also simmered in the same chicken broth, are served alongside, making it a satisfying dish.
■ Exquisite dishes to enjoy with fish and sake
Namero tempura wrapped in seaweed
This dish is an adaptation of "namerou," a staple at Japanese pubs, into tempura wrapped in seaweed. You can enjoy the fragrant aroma of seaweed and the delicious flavor of the fish, which is enhanced by the cooking process. It pairs well with sake and shochu, and is a dish that we highly recommend you enjoy with your drinks.
Tuna and yuba cheese roll
This is a creative dish combining carefully selected tuna with yuba (tofu skin) and cheese. The umami of the tuna, the smooth texture of the yuba, and the richness of the cheese are combined to create a dish that allows you to enjoy the combination of ingredients.
Fresh from Sakaiminato! Fried horse mackerel (1 piece) 390 yen (tax included)
Made with horse mackerel delivered from Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture. The thick flesh and fluffy, crispy texture, unique to fish delivered directly from the source, make it a perfect match for beer or highball.
At the counter seats surrounding the open kitchen, you can enjoy your meal while being close to the cooking process and the sounds of the food being prepared. Another unique charm of this restaurant is the opportunity to enjoy conversations with the staff.
■ Carefully selected sake and shochu
We offer a selection of sake and shochu from all over Japan to complement your meal. Our lineup includes limited-edition sake with robust flavors and 10 carefully selected shochu varieties, perfectly paired with the richness of fish fat and the savory aroma of our grilled dishes. Beyond simply matching your drink to your meal, you can also choose one to suit your mood – a unique pleasure of our restaurant.
■ A "hideaway" space to forget about everyday life
To allow you to forget the hustle and bustle of the city, we have deliberately adopted a "windowless space design" that does not allow you to see the outside view. The nostalgic 80s music playing in the store and the warm lighting create a space where you can naturally relax and unwind.
Furthermore, we deliberately avoid putting up a large sign outside the shop, relying only on a small light and a wooden door as landmarks. By designing the interior to be difficult to see from the outside, we aimed to create the atmosphere of a hidden gem known only to those in the know. Located in the heart of Ikebukuro, amidst the flashy neon lights, we strive to provide a space where you can enjoy a meal and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere.
