
A department store complex with approximately 180 shops, including 11 stores opening for the first time, opens
Starting on Wednesday, September 17, 2013, Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store will gradually reopen its basement food floor after renovation. 41 new shops will join the store, including 11 shops opening in a department store for the first time, and the store will be one of Japan's largest depachika stores, with approximately 180 shops. In addition to long-time favorite shops, the store will also introduce many popular shops that are currently trending, aiming to be a depachika store where "there is always something new to discover" and where "you'll want to come every day."
The sweets and gift floor on the basement floor will further expand its selection of fresh cakes, which have been popular even before the renovation due to their extensive lineup. Many shops will also offer freshly baked sweets made in the kitchen on the floor, welcoming customers with a full selection. In addition, Ubukagai/Ajikoji, a shop selling famous sweets and local specialties from all over Japan, will also be showcasing an upgraded version with the addition of new popular limited edition items.
The deli floor on the second basement floor offers a wide selection of authentic specialty store flavors, from popular prepared foods from popular restaurants that have long lines to freshly baked, fried, and other freshly prepared dishes that you can enjoy in a lively atmosphere.
A new "BENTO Station" has been established on the station concourse side on the first basement floor, specializing in bento (boxed lunches), a part of Japanese food culture. We offer bento boxes that can be enjoyed for a variety of occasions, catering to a wide range of people, including those who live or work in the neighborhood, as well as those who travel to Ikebukuro Station from afar.
Furthermore, the North Zone on the second basement floor will be transformed into a floor offering fresh produce, alcohol, and other seasonal delicacies from all over Japan, with new content added from January 2014. Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store will develop the food floor as a new, attractive dining spot that meets the needs of the many customers visiting Ikebukuro.
Opening Wednesday, September 17th: Sweets & Gifts on the 1st basement floor
The highlight of the sweets and gifts section on the basement floor is a selection of fresh cakes made with seasonal fruits and carefully selected ingredients from 25 popular sweets shops (10 of which are new), including Chez Shibata, which is opening for the first time in the Kanto region, Nihonbashi Sembikiya Main Store, and Maison Dhani.
Additionally, eight international sweets shops from the world's top maisons, such as Lenôtre, Pierre Marcolini, and Benoît Niant, will be introduced, offering a selection that will impress any sweets lover with both quality and quantity.
In addition, there will be a lineup of new and attractive shops, including popular sweets from overseas and new store formats created by sweets brands. Chocolate chip cookie specialty store "CC's Cookie" will be opening, as well as nine shops opening in a department store for the first time, including "Taiyo no Galette," "Caramel TOKYO," "Paris Butter Chocolat," and "DI CLASSE."
Six shops, including "Adachi Otoemon" (chestnut financiers), "Tsuruya Yoshinobu" (daifuku), "Kyoto Mitarashi Umezono" (mitarashi dango), and "THE ROYAL BAKE" (scones), will offer freshly made sweets made in the kitchen on the floor. You can enjoy the fresh taste that can only be found in a department store.
Taneya, a long-established Japanese confectionery shop, has set up an open counter in the main sales area, displaying the largest selection of products in eastern Japan. They offer a wide variety of sweets, including store-exclusive products. Furthermore, Ubukagai/Ajikoji, a shop selling famous sweets and local specialties from all over Japan, which many customers requested be reopened when it was closed for renovations, will also reopen with a new look.
Opening on Thursday, September 25th: Deli (prepared foods) on the 2nd basement floor / Boulangerie on the 1st basement floor
On the deli floor (prepared foods) on the second basement floor, approximately 50 prepared food shops will use the kitchens on the floor and on the third basement floor to provide freshly prepared prepared foods and bento boxes.
Responding to the diverse food needs of urban dwellers, we also stock a wide range of popular ethnic prepared foods from seven countries around the world: China, Italy, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and India.
Popular Tokyo delicatessens, known for their local flavors, will also be newly added to the store: Kitchen ABC (Western cuisine), Kichijoji Sato (minced meat), and Kichijoji Tsukada Suisan (oden). Additionally, the long-established Ningyocho store Kyo Kasuzuke Uokyu will be selling freshly prepared prepared dishes and bento boxes in its in-store kitchen, marking its first appearance in a department store.
With this renewal, the store will have the largest selection of bento lunches of any department store, with 400 varieties from 85 brands (including the BENTO station on the first basement floor). We will create a system where you can choose from a wide range of bento lunches for meals at work, at home, or as a travel companion.
Additionally, on the station concourse side of the first basement floor, the hugely popular baked goods shop "Échiré Pâtisserie au Beurre" will open, as well as boulangerie stores (Maison Kayser and Donq).

On the station concourse side, which is the focal point of the first basement floor, there will be a sales area of approximately 60 square meters specializing in "BENTO (lunch box)," which has attracted attention from around the world. The lineup will include 40 brands (100 types) to suit a variety of occasions, from standard bentos to bentos from famous restaurants, seasonal feasts, and healthy bentos for the health-conscious.
