[Example of work]
- "Ruri Kannon Bosatsu" Kusunoki, one shaku
A work of Ruri Kannon, one of the 33 Kannon changes. It is said that it has the merit of repelling disasters, illnesses, and troubles with the power of the fragrant scent emitted by the lapis lazuli that appears on the lotus flower floating on the surface of the water. The main body of this work is carved from a single tree, with a pedestal that is precisely combined and a halo carved into a large curve.
The work finished in pale coloring at Matsumoto Kobo expresses the softness of the clothes, and more expresses the mercy of the Kannon Bodhisattva.
- "Koyasu Kannon Bosatsu" Kusunoki, 6 inch body
The sculpture of a child who was in the palm of his hand with the Kanzeon Bodhisattva by one-wood carving is carved in an exquisite balance as if he had dwelled in the wood from the beginning. It can be said that this work is a true expression of Mr. Akiyoshi Matsumoto's words, "If you look at a tree, you can see the figure of a Buddha inside."
- "Dojizo (Large) (Small)"
"Dojizo (Large)" Kusunoki, total height 15.0 cm, "Dojizo (Small)" Kusunoki, total height 13.5 cm
Among the Buddhas, Jizo is the closest to us sentient beings. In the Bodhisattva, it is the only one that appears as a human being. A lovely work that makes you want to keep it by your side, which makes you smile when you see it.
