Sanrio will hold its first-ever cultural sustainability event, a classical concert featuring the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, on August 3rd (Monday) at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in Ikebukuro.

Sanrio Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sanrio) will hold "Sanrio Nakayoku Project ~Everyone Get Along Classical Concert 2026~" as Sanrio's first cultural sustainability event on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre Concert Hall in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.

This performance, in collaboration with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, will deliver classical music that is easily accessible to children, with the rich sound of a full orchestra. In part of the performance, Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, will make an appearance, adding to the festive atmosphere of the concert with music themed around the characters. In addition, interactive content will be available before and after the performance, including a workshop where you can experience character creation with Sanrio designers, and a workshop where you can make musical instruments using recycled gachapon capsules.

This event was planned with the aim of providing children with the opportunity to experience authentic classical music, as an initiative that contributes to Sanrio Materiality 's key issues of "fulfillment of well-being" and "democratization of creativity." We will expand the opportunities for experience to children in various circumstances, including inviting children from children's homes, and create opportunities for them to experience the joy of creation and expression. Tickets go on sale today, June 10th (Wednesday), and a portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society and organizations that support children.

Moving forward, we will continue to develop cultural sustainability activities as part of the "Sanrio Nakayoku Project." In line with our corporate philosophy of "Everyone getting along," we will promote sustainability activities based on our vision of "One World, Connecting Smiles" (bringing smiles to as many people as possible and spreading a circle of happiness around the world).

Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Profile

Founded in 1946 as the Toho Symphony Orchestra, it has received almost all of Japan's major music awards, including the Minister of Education Award. In addition to actively developing concerts and outreach programs in partnership with Kawasaki City and Niigata City, its multifaceted activities such as the "Children's Regular Concert" and the "Asia Project" have also attracted attention. As the regular orchestra of the New National Theatre, it is responsible for opera and ballet performances every year. It also performs many overseas concerts, including at the Vienna Musikverein. The orchestra is also a leader in the music world in its efforts with IT, with approximately 200,000 viewers watching its live-streamed concert without an audience on Nico Nico Live in 2020, and attracting attention in December 2022 for its performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony using a record-breaking 45 cameras.
He is highly regarded as a leading figure in the Japanese orchestral world, alongside the third music director, Jonathan Nott. In Ongaku no Tomo magazine's "Concert Best Ten" list, his performance of "Salome" was ranked 2nd in 2022, and his performance of "Elektra" was ranked 1st in 2023. His third concert, "Der Rosenkavalier," in December 2024, also received great acclaim.
Lorenzo Viotti will assume the position of the fourth music director in April 2026.

Creative workshop by Sanrio designers (pre-registration required)

The "CreativeDoor Presented by Sanrio" workshop, where children in grades 1 through 6 can try their hand at character creation with Sanrio designers, offers an experience where they can enjoy expressing themselves in their own unique way while expanding their ideas using words and materials as hints. Please note that this program is open to those with concert tickets and requires prior application.
