The Sunshine Aquarium (Ikebukuro, Tokyo) will hold an event "Zokuzoku Deep Sea Biological 2022" focusing on deep sea creatures from January 14th (Friday) to March 6th (Sunday), 2022.
Some creatures that live in the deep sea deeper than 200 m, where only a little light reaches, have unique characteristics that are different from the shallow creatures that we often see. Deep-sea creatures have survived, adapting to the harsh environment of dark, cold, high water pressure.
At this event, we will explain in an easy-to-understand manner the advantages and meanings of living in the deep sea that the characteristic appearance of deep-sea creatures is, through the exhibition of living organisms, specimens, and models for each category.
In addition, we asked junior and senior high school students of Shinagawa Joshi Gakuin, who are the "young generation", to think about an exhibition that conveys and interests the younger generation in an easy-to-understand manner about the marine plastic waste problem that has become more serious in recent years, and introduces it through original manga. To do.
Due to the low habitat temperature of deep-sea organisms, the surface temperature of the seawater drops and it can only be collected in winter, when it has the least impact on deep-sea organisms. There are lots of contents that you can discover the charm of deep-sea creatures, such as a biological exhibition of deep-sea creatures and a backyard tour that can be shown only in this season.

We will introduce the characteristics of the body unique to deep-sea creatures by category, as to why deep-sea creatures can survive in harsh environments. In addition to living organisms, specimens and models are also on display so that you can take a closer look at the characteristics of the body of deep-sea organisms.
