大塚初の卓球コミュニティスペース「ping-pong ba」オープニングイベント開催！
昨年、JR大塚駅前に開業した人気ホテル「星野リゾート OMO5 東京大塚（ba01）」の地下に新しくオープンする卓球コミュニティスペース「ping-pong ba」。 7月26日（金）19時からの開業に先立ち、豊島区長 高野之夫氏やデザイナー コシノジュンコ氏らが出席するオープニングイベントが開催されましたので、その様子をお伝えいたします。 ping-pong-baとは？ 「ping pong-ba」は、「卓球を通して“大塚の街”と“人”をつなぐ」をコンセプトに誕生したコミュニティラウンジ（Cafe&bar）。「寝るだけでは終わらせない、旅のテンションを上げる都市観光ホテル」をコンセプトに昨年誕生した人気ホテル「星野リゾート OMO5 東京大塚」の地下にオープンします。 店内には5台の卓球台、DJブースを設置し、お酒・食事・卓球・音楽を落ち着いた空間で楽しむことができるのが特徴。池袋をはじめ主要繁華街からのアクセスが容易で、老若男女問わず数多く人々が訪れる今注目の街“大塚”で「気軽に寄れる、楽しめる」空間になっています。 「本日はお忙しい中、この地味な街大塚にわざわざお越しいただきましてありがとうございます」 と挨拶したのは、山口不動産株式会社代表取締役CEO 武藤浩司氏。武藤氏が冗談まじりに強調したように、この大塚という街のイメージは決して華やかなものではありません。しかし、この街の魅力を発信したいという思いから「ba project」が立ち上がり、「泊まる」というテーマを担う「ba01」、古き良き大塚の魅力を発信するのれん街「ba02」といった話題の施設が続々と誕生。そのおかげもあってか、5年経った今ではJR大塚駅の乗降客数は11%の増加を達成し、2018年度の前年比増加率では第7位にランクインするなどの躍進を見せています。 「ping-pong-ba」は、かつて花街や産業地として栄えたこの大塚の街にふたたび人を集め、人を繋ぎ、人に力を与える場を作りたいという思いから誕生したもの。「ping-pong-ba」はガストロパブ×卓球をテーマに掲げたコミュニティスペースですが、まさに卓球というスポーツは誰もが気軽に楽しむことができ、人と人の温かい交流をもたらしてくれるコミュニケーションツールでもあるのです。 スペシャルゲストも登場！ さらに、スペシャルゲストとして卓球日本男子代表の丹羽孝希選手、JOCエリートアカデミーの木原美悠選手が登場。奇しくも2020年東京オリンピック・パラリンピックまで1年を切ったこの日、両選手も1年後を見すえて闘志を高ぶらせている様子でした。 また、最後に登壇した小池百合子東京都知事は「この大塚で、卓球を通じてみなさんの交流が進めば嬉しく思います。また、ここからスタートしたオリンピック選手が誕生し、Tリーグ（日本の卓球リーグ）で活躍する、なんていう展開も楽しみですね」とコメント。コミュニティスペースとしての「ping-pong-ba」に期待感を寄せていました。 本格的なフードメニューにも注目 気分はすっかりロンドン？！ フロア内で提供されるのは、パブの本場・ロンドンで人気のビールや本格的なフードメニュー。サンデーロースト・アボガドサンドといったイギリス風のブレックファーストや、フィッシュアンドチップスなど、ビールとともに楽しめ、イギリスの文化を感じられるような多彩なメニューが提供されます。 卓球で汗を流し、乾いたノドにイギリスビールを流し込む・・・それが大塚の人々にとって新たなナイトライフになるのかもしれませんね。 歴史や文化を活かし、大塚をもっと行きたくなる街へ。そのための繋がりの“起点”を目指す「ba（場）project」。その新しいかたちとなる「ping-pong-ba」が、まもなく開業を迎えようとしています。 今後はコミュニティスペースとしての運営だけではなく、スポーツを通じた健康増進のきっかけになるような、地域企業や住民との卓球大会や交流イベントも開催予定とのこと。ますます目が離せない展開を見せる「ping-pong-ba」に、ぜひ一度足を運んでみてはいかがでしょうか？ 公式サイト：https://ping-pong-ba.owst.jp/
