Komeda Co., Ltd., which operates coffee shop chains such as Komeda Coffee both domestically and internationally, launched a new brand called Jericho-do in 2024. The first store in the Kanto region, Jericho-do Sunshine City Alpa, opened on Friday, November 14, 2025.

We covered the reception for stakeholders that was held earlier, so we'd like to share with you what the store is like.

The stand-up coffee shop "Jericho-do" has arrived in the Kanto region for the first time! It also has a "Comment" corner selling original goods.

Jericho-do was established in 2024 as a new business concept that inherits Komeda's core DNA of "the best place to relax" and is easy to use regardless of time, place, or occasion . It is a stand-up coffee shop that specializes in Komeda's signature dessert drink "Jericho," which allows you to enjoy coffee, and offers a "relaxing cup" to suit your mood that day.

Until now, the brand has had one store in Hong Kong, and one each in Aichi and Mie prefectures in Japan, but has now finally made its debut in the Kanto region. The brand chose Sunshine City in Ikebukuro as its first Kanto store because of its ability to spread trends and make the brand widely known among younger generations. Located in a corner of the basement floor of the specialty shopping mall Alpa, the store's appeal lies in its convenient location, making it easy to drop in between sightseeing and shopping, or on the way home from work.

The store also has a section selling goods sold on Komeda's official online shop, "Comection," as well as original Jericho-do goods. Jericho-do Sakae Oasis 21 and this store are said to be the only stores in the country that stock such a wide range of products.

The merchandise corner has a wide selection of items, including familiar cups, popular sofa-patterned tote bags, and sustainable coffee-dyed pouches.

There are over 1,000 different ways to enjoy "Jericho" that you can only experience here!

"Jericho was born from the desire to have more people enjoy coffee, which Komeda values above all else. It has been a popular dessert drink for over 10 years since its launch in 2014. As we conceived the idea of a stand-up coffee shop, we decided to launch a brand centered around Jericho, not only because it is loved by customers but also because it is a product that can widely communicate the essence of Komeda."

As the spokesperson explained, Jericho was originally a signature item offered at Komeda's Coffee. It's a dessert drink made with an original iced coffee base, jelly carefully prepared in-store, and topped with whipped cream.

Jericho-do's Jericho is based on a combination of five types of jelly – coffee jelly, black tea jelly, strawberry jelly, mango jelly, and blueberry jelly – and various drinks such as iced coffee, matcha milk, and brown honey milk.

25 varieties of classic Jericho (prices are as of the time of opening). Available in R and L sizes.

The unique feature of Jericho-do is that you can customize your Jericho to your liking, depending on how you feel about relaxing that day.

Apparently, there are over 1,000 possible combinations. The brand concept is to allow people to enjoy Jericho from a variety of angles, including the fun of choosing, the fun of its colorful appearance, and the fun of mixing and drinking.

*In addition, drink menus such as Komeda Blend and straight tea, as well as merchandise such as cookies are also available for sale.

Jericho-do's Jericho uses an original recipe developed to suit the sales format of stand-up coffee shops. As a result, even though their coffee jelly uses the same Komeda Blend as Komeda Coffee Shop, it is actually a different product.

While Komeda's jelly has a satisfying, firm texture, Jericho-do's has a smooth, bouncy texture that makes it easy to drink with a thick straw. Also, because it's essential to mix it thoroughly before drinking , the whipped cream used is different from Komeda's, using espuma whipped cream, which is creamy and fluffy and easy to mix.

Jericho's classic "Coffee Jelly & Milk Coffee" (R/630 yen)

Up until now, coffee-based Jericho drinks such as Komeda's signature "Coffee Jelly & Milk Coffee" have been popular at other stores. However, a spokesperson said , "We've put a lot of effort into developing each flavor, so we hope you'll try other non-coffee Jericho drinks too. For example, some people have tried the all-tea Jericho, which combines black tea jelly with roasted green tea and matcha whipped cream. We encourage you to experience the fun of discovering your own unique combination."

However, with over 1,000 different patterns to choose from, some people may find it difficult to choose. Therefore, we recommend choosing seasonal limited edition products that are changed irregularly.

At the time of opening, they will be selling "Tea Jelly & Caramel Pumpkin" (R/740 yen). It is a tea jelly-based Jericho that is perfectly combined with Hokkaido Ebisu pumpkin and milk, and the slightly bitter caramel is said to complement the gentle sweetness.

In addition, recommended customizations, such as seasonal Jericho and eye-catching Jericho, are available on the official website and social media.

This time, among the customizations officially proposed as "Favourite Jericho",

"Strawberry Jelly & Strawberry Milk" (R/690 yen) can be changed to matcha whipped cream, and additional toppings include warabimochi (+100 yen) and ogura bean paste (+100 yen)

We had the opportunity to try the visually stunning Jericho, which was customized with

Even the R size is quite heavy. I noticed while taking the photo that the weight of the sauce on top caused the whipped cream to sink surprisingly quickly, so be careful if you want to take a beautiful photo.

The fruit jelly flavors come with fruit puree on top, which makes you feel like you're getting a good deal. The whipped cream is filled right up to the brim, so there's a risk of it spilling if you try to mix it with a straw, so it might be safer to scoop out a little with a spoon first. The matcha whipped cream, made with Nishio matcha, was creamy with a refined matcha flavor.

Having heard that it tasted like "Strawberry Daifuku," I actually mixed it and drank it, and the red bean paste and warabimochi stood out strongly against the mellowness of the strawberry milk, giving it a definite Japanese feel. The balance of sweetness and freshness is exquisite, making it a flavor that will be loved by people of all ages. I also enjoyed the contrast in texture between the chewy warabimochi and the jelly. One cup left me feeling quite satisfied, and personally, this customization seems like it would be useful for situations where I want to take a good break and recharge my energy.

"If I add brown rice crackers to this, it will have a fragrant flavor and be even more delicious…!" An idea like this naturally comes to mind.

Once you experience Jericho Hall, you'll want to come back again and again. When you're tired, when you want to be healed, or for any other relaxing occasion, why not give it a try?
